The BCSO has always taken pride in being welcoming and inclusive to all the orthodontists in the province and full representation provides us with a strong voice for our specialty. We are actively involved in many issues that affect the orthodontic specialty and are well represented and in close contact with the College of Dental Surgeons of BC, BC Dental Association, Dental Specialists Society of BC, Canadian Association of Orthodontists, Royal College of Dentists of Canada, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontists and World Federation of Orthodontists. We respect our fellow colleagues and facilitate open and frank discussions on any issue or concern to help find resolutions and plan a course of action. In a great show of cooperation, our society encourages and practices non-assignment of dental insurance benefits to maintain our independence from any influence or control by the dental insurance providers.
